Krasnodembskaya’s research group works with Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) with the goal of development of EV-therapeutics for respiratory diseases and novel ex vivo models of human lung tissue.

Our central goal is to understand how EVs work in the context of the injury microenvironment, how EVs modulate reparative capacities of the host cells, and if we can enhance EV therapeutic potential through modification.  More recently, we developed novel human lung organoid model, which allows us to better study mechanisms of disease and test therapies; further optimisation of this model can be an exciting topic for potential PhD projects.
